Platypus Tilting Drying Rack (4x5)

A Forster UK Design

Add a little Bauhaus to your darkroom and dry your film and glass plates faster with a Platypus tilting drying rack

Just load your wet film or plates vertically, then tilt the rack so that the water drips from a point instead of collecting along the bottom edge

Currently for 4x5 film and dry plates, but other sizes will become available

Available in kit form or fully assembled

Kit comprises of;

2x Frames (1x front, 1x rear)

5x Dividers (3x standard, 1x Rear Support, 1x Front Support)
10x 25mm x 3.5mm Black Phosphate Coated screws

The parts are designed so that they can only be fitted in the correct place

The 3D printed parts are made from UK/EU manufactured PLA (plant-based, recyclable and industrially compostable)

The screws are manufactured in the UK or EU (depending upon the supplier)

Shipping

Shipping to the UK

  • Royal Mail Tracked 48 - £3.50 (2-4 Business Days)
  • Royal Mail Tacked 24 - £4.20 (1-2 Business Days)

Shipping Internationally (Excluding EU)

  • Tracked International Mail - £10.50 (1-4 Weeks)

Shipping to the EU

I can ship directly to EU countries upon request. Items sent directly will not include EU VAT and are likely to be payable upon receipt of the goods. There is no hard rule for how individual countries deal with the collection of VAT, and some countries/courier companies may choose to add other charges/duties.

Payment of VAT and any duty or fees is the responsibility of the customer.

For EU sales I recommend using my Etsy or eBay shop, as EU VAT will be collected at the point of payment. I regret to say that some EU countries do not have a consistent approach to goods arriving from the United Kingdom, and may make additional charges for duty and other fees. It is also with regret that goods arriving in Spain, Portugal, Netherlands and Belgium have a greater likelihood of becoming lost, than with other EU countries, and therefore I recommend that a tracked service is used.

overall great but concerned about deep slots on the 6 version

Very neat product, and well designed. I have the 4 and the 6. However the slots on the 6 are much deeper causing me some concern about scratching when sheets are still somewhat taco-shaped after development. (Though to be clear it’s not something I’ve seen happen yet). Not sure if the design is different on the 6 or if it’s updated version versus my older 4. YMMV
